The Flower Challenge August: One Layer Card

Hi friends

The theme this month for The Flower Challenge is One Layer Card

For my card I pulled out Altenew Watercolor Wonders Stamp set and hero arts soft lilac and navy inks.

using my Mini Misti I stamped the images, lining up the layers using the key provided on the Altenew packaging. I added the leaves with Hero Arts Green Hills ink.

the sentiment is from the Simon Says Stamp Really Like You set stamped in hero arts navy ink.

I then used a Simon Says Stamp Stitched circle die Face down on my cardpanel, sandwiched between a soft embossing mat with my die cutting plates and ran it through my spellbinders die cutting machine. This creates an embossed circle rather than cutting all the way through. I love how this gives you different ways to use your dies and adds an element of interest.

Then I used my heat gun to ensure all the ink designs were thoroughly dry. Next I prepped my base with an anti-static powder bag, stamped the final layer with clear versamark ink and used hero arts gold embossing powder and my heat gun to create the final layer.

I wanted to add gold highlights to my sentiment and the leaves also so I used a new to me product – tonic nuvo embossing pen. This works in the same way as versamark ink but it is in a handy pen form. I found I needed to go over some areas twice but I just love that I was able to make those two tone letters!  Some sequins adhered with multi medium matte glue finish the card.

I am so happy with the way this turned out, I hope you have been inspired too.  For more inspiration check out my fellow team members at The Flower Challenge and I hope you will play along with us this month.  Looking forward to seeing your designs.

The stitched circle adds texture while showing off the sentiment, Rachel, and the gold embossing gives your card that extra something special.

Rachel I am so involve with the look of this card and the layer of gold embossing. I have these stamps and don’t use them much as I have struggled with the loose watercolour look but adding that layer of gold embossing takes the stamp up another level. Stunning xx
