Freehand watercolour roses by Rachel Vass

Freehand watercolour roses

Mama elephant, watercolour

Hey everyone,

Today’s card really pushed me outside of my comfort zone. I watercoloured some roses freehand in pretty pink tones using my gansai tambi paints.

Once dried I used the pretty scallop rectangle  by Winnie and Walter which really helped to smooth out some of the warping on the watercolour paper. The sentiment is one of my go to  happy anniversary sentiments by Mama Elephant.   I had an accident with my enamel dots (oops) so had to add loads to cover up and try and make the piece look balanced.

Marker Pop Guest Designer Card

Altenew

The lovely Holly at Marker Pop invited me to be one of the guest designers this week with this wonderful theme:

You can choose to make a card using three of the colours and a neutral and or incorporate the theme.  I have a real lack of sea stamps (added to my wish list now, of course) so I chose to use three colours.

Here is my card.  It uses the gorgeous Altenew Celebrations stamp set.  I coloured directly on to the stamp using brown zig clean colour brush and once stamped on to watercolour paper I used other zig brushes and water to soften the lines.  It’s a lovely technique I need to practice more.

Looking forward to seeing all your entries – p.s there is a fab prize pack up for grabs too!

Pink and grey ink smooshing colour combo

Winnie and Walter

Hi

I made this card a few days ago, with the intention of sharing it with you straight away and then life got in the way of blogging.  Does that happen to you to?  Lol.

I was still thinking about the current colour combo challenge set by Heather H over on the Winnie and Walter Blog and so I based my card around a pink and grey colour theme.

I ink smooshed distress inks spun sugar and picked raspberry along with a dark grey ink onto bockingford watercolour paper.  I then die cut a circle of the smooshed background with a Simon Says Stamp stitched circle die.  I used hero arts charcoal ink to stamp my sentiment, flowers and leaves and then I copic coloured some of my images. The images are from Winnie and Walters In Bloom:Addies Garden set which I have been loving lately.  A few sentiments glued with multi medium matte finish it all off.

Floating heart baby card with Winnie and Walter

Winnie and Walter

Hi everyone.  Hope your week is going well?

For today’s card I was again trying to stretch my ‘creative muscles’ and try something a bit different for me.  Keren has challenged us through Winnie and Walter to create cards with an element off the page.  What do you think? Is this a success?

I personally am really pleased with it. I incorporated lots of techniques – die cutting, stencilling, ink blending, watercolour, fussy cutting etc.  The lovely paper is by pebbles called Lullaby.  The images and sentiments are by Winnie and Walter – welcome to the Family and sending you . I made the heart out of three layers of cardstock to give it some stability and sandwiched acetate between the layers so that it looks like it’s floating.  You can’t really see in the photos but I also added clear wink of Stella to the clouds for some added shimmer.

Happy Wednesday everyone! A day closer to the weekend, yay.

I can’t believe this is my 100th post!! Keep reading for giveaway details (now closed).

I have a beautiful new paper pad that I just couldn’t resist from American Crafts called Lovely Day.  I have so much patterned paper and I hate cutting it up.  Are you the same? Maybe there’s a support group I can join?

Anyway I did cut into a couple of the sheets for today’s card.  I also watercoloured some bright spring flowers from the gorgeous Winnie and Walter Addies Garden. I ink blended a dark black circle to my card base and added some water splatters. I die cut a circle from my patterned paper and also die cut a circle frame and layered all my pieces together. A liberal hand with clear wink of Stella and some sequins finish this card. I am so longing for spring!!!

Elephant shaker card, new baby by Rachel Vass using Winnie and Walter set

Sweet Elephant Baby shaker card

Winnie and Walter

Hi everyone.  Thanks for visiting my blog!

Today’s card is another play with the cute Winnie and Walter Welcome to the Family set.  We have been challenged by Keren at Winnie and Walter to create a card with an element off the page.  This is totally outside my comfort zone, but it’s nice to try new processes and techniques isn’t it?

I watercoloured the cute elephant image and fussy cut it.  I used a cloud stencil I created with my silhouette cameo to make a soft yellow background.

Then I used spellbinders nestabilities heart dies to cut acetate, patterned paper and white cardstock a number of times so that when glued together they would create a shaker.

Once attached to my card panel I freehand drew the balloon string with a zig watercolour marker down to the elephant tail so that he appears to be floating in the clouds attached to the balloon.  The sentiment is from the same Winnie and Walter set as the cute elephant. A smattering of sequins finishes this card.  Hope you like it.
